MY PASSION is to share what is the best with others. I get very excited and animated, like a little kid, when I know what I am experiencing or what I am providing for others is very special, sweet, perfect or right on target. I am very enthusiastic about what I believe in and share with others. I also adore being very creative with everything I do. Part of what enjoy most about being creative is making the most out of everything; every experience, encounter, excursion, or exercise. I believe there is so much to be gained, always and I am not shy about making sure everyone around me is experiencing that same abundance as well.
BEING DISCOVERED DOING WHAT I LOVE was not my goal. I just got caught in action. I was exhibiting at one of those big trade shows, showing my artistic abilities for creating custom murals and faux finishes, when a Producer for Henniger Media Services approached me and asked if I would be interested in leading some video instructional portions for HGTV (Bed and Bath Show). I was asked to come up with ideas for our first meeting/interview. I came loaded with ideas they loved. We moved forward and recorded three episodes in three residences belonging to my established mural clients. I demonstrated work that could be completed by any and every interested homeowner. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to inspire creativity with others. Phew! Recording a TV show is very time consuming. I had no idea and now have an appreciation for those who do it on a regular basis. The real fun was in creating something that would be useful for the viewers at home. I taped three shows with three lessons, but had so many more to share. I just had to be patient, there would be other opportunities in time.
"DO YOU TEACH?", was a common question I encountered as I met people over the years while creating murals or fine art. Some artists may think teaching is a bother, but I love to teach mainly because I am exposed to new lessons myself as I prepare to teach others. I love teaching and sharing creativity. It was hard to not have a place or program to direct these lovely souls to one they shared their interest in learning. That is until I got the call to do an art project for the newly opened luxury resort in the beautiful countryside of Virginia; Salamander Resort and Spa in Middleburg.
LIVING OUT WHAT I LOVE AS ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE at Salamander Resort and Spa, in Middleburg Virginia is a perfect match. As Artist in Residence, I am able to offer Salamander Resort the terrific art programs for their guests and the surrounding community, as well as support the resort itself with artistic direction at any given time. Our desire for excellence is perfectly in sync. Providing the best for all is our goal. Entering into my third year in this role, it's like riding a tandem bike on a well paved path. I am always looking to provide new ideas for the population of families, budding artists, souls in search for wellness through creativity, corporate groups looking to bond as a team, couples who desire closeness, and even nervous, novice artists in the making. I believe that every artist is not a special person, but every person is a special artist. I work with all levels and push all who come through my place of instruction to challenge themselves. I'm rewarded when they are surprised and pleased by what they were able to create.
If you are in the Middleburg, VA area or want to experience some good fun and creativity (worth the journey), come visit me at the Salamander. Who knows, we might even get some SRStv going soon. I really want you to witness (and learn) some of the great art being created at the beautiful resort.
